How badges and links work on your listing
Set up a badge to publish your free listing, choose its design, and understand when your link is followed.

Getting your free listing live
A free listing stays in "waiting for badge" until we find a live link to it on your website. Use your listing's badge page to pick a design—shape, light or dark, size—then copy the HTML snippet to your site. Any design counts; we crawl automatically every 7 days to verify.
Once we find the badge, your listing publishes. If the badge is removed later, the listing reverts to waiting status and we email you. Restore it and publication resumes automatically.
Dofollow or nofollow
Your badge link starts as nofollow. It becomes dofollow when two conditions are met:
- Your site's Domain Rating (Ahrefs) is at least 20
- Our spam checks pass
If either fails, the link stays nofollow. Paid launches receive a dofollow link on the listing page itself; free listings get nofollow.
Earned badges
Launch of the Week winners, Featured, Launched and Verified badges appear on your listing automatically once you earn them. These are separate from the badge you place on your own site.
Questions people ask
- What happens if I remove the badge from my website?
- We re-check every 7 days. If the badge is gone, your free listing returns to "waiting for badge" status and we send you an email. Add it back and the listing re-publishes automatically.
- When does my badge link become dofollow?
- Our script checks live. The link becomes dofollow when your Ahrefs Domain Rating is at least 20 and spam checks pass. Otherwise it remains nofollow.
- Do I need to buy a paid launch to get a dofollow link?
- No. Free listings can earn dofollow if your Domain Rating meets the threshold and you pass spam checks. Paid launches automatically receive a dofollow link on the listing page.
