Q&A
- Which markets does Langbot cover?
- Every market on Kalshi and Polymarket across categories including sports, elections, politics, economics, financials, crypto, weather and entertainment. Each market includes its outcome, rules as written, and a public page. Price history is backfilled from the venues, and live order-book recording for every open market is rolling out. Where a market settles on words, such as earnings-call mentions, speeches, debates and hearings, Langbot also records the event and attaches each phrase to the markets it touches.
- How does Langbot know whether a hit counts?
- It reads the market's own rules. For Kalshi earnings markets, it counts words said by company representatives and never an analyst. For count strikes like Green Apron (3+ times), it requires that many counting mentions. Each hit carries the speaker's identity, mention count, and a verdict of counts, doesn't count, or unclear with the reason given.
- Does Langbot settle markets?
- No. The venue settles every market under its own rules. Langbot's verdict on a hit is a reading of those rules, not a settlement, and it never predicts outcomes or recommends trades. It provides timestamped facts with signed receipts that resolvers, counterparties or audits can check against the venue's own rules. Users decide what to do and trade under their own exchange keys.
- How fast is it compared to the public webcast?
- On 13 October 2026, measured on the dial-in, Langbot led the public webcast by 5.9 seconds on the Goldman Sachs call and 10.2 seconds on the Citigroup call, across 3,596 aligned phrases. On live streams, the time from a spoken word to its fact is measured continuously and published by the feed. Langbot does not claim to beat the market; on the mentions that count, the price often moves before or level with the fastest line.
- How does Langbot find the source for an event?
- For each event, Langbot looks for the fastest line it is allowed to hear: the dial-in for an earnings call, the committee or venue stream for a hearing, or the carrier that will air it. Nine carriers are watched for liveness every two minutes: the White House, the Fed, C-SPAN, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNBC, Bloomberg and Sky. An event still awaiting a line is listed as Line pending until one is attached.
