Astrocarto

Overview

Astrocarto is a free astrocartography calculator that projects your birth chart onto a world map to reveal how planetary energies shift depending on where you live or travel. The tool uses Swiss Ephemeris calculations (accurate to 1 mile) and AI interpretation to analyze planetary lines—showing where the Sun, Moon, Venus, Jupiter, and other planets were rising, setting, at midheaven, or at their lowest point at your exact birth moment.

The interactive map lets you explore planetary lines and power spots (line intersections) globally. You can filter specific planetary combinations, view how each line affects your career, relationships, and personal growth, and export high-resolution maps and interpretation reports. Astrocarto supports cities worldwide with automatic timezone and daylight saving time handling.

Digital nomads, relocators, and astrology enthusiasts use the free tool without signup to understand how geography shapes their life. The platform also offers paid research plans with AI follow-up questions and timing previews for deeper multi-city analysis.

Q&A

What is astrocartography?

Astrocartography is a locational astrology technique that projects your birth chart onto a world map to reveal how planetary energies vary by location. Developed by astrologer Jim Lewis in the 1970s, it shows planetary lines where each planet was rising, setting, at midheaven, or at its lowest point at your exact birth moment. Living or traveling near these lines amplifies that planet's influence in your daily life, shaping your experiences in love, career, creativity, and personal growth.

What does each planet line mean in astrocartography?

Each line carries its planet's core energy: Sun lines enhance visibility and recognition, Moon lines deepen emotional comfort and home feelings, Venus lines attract love and beauty, Mars lines amplify drive and passion, Jupiter lines bring luck and expansion, Saturn lines build discipline and karmic lessons, Uranus lines spark freedom and change, Neptune lines heighten intuition and creativity, Pluto lines trigger deep transformation. Each planet also has four line types—ASC (rising), DSC (setting), MC (overhead), IC (underfoot)—expressing its energy in different life areas: identity, relationships, career, and inner world.

How is astrocartography different from a birth chart?

Your birth chart is fixed to your place of birth and shows your planetary positions at that single location. Astrocartography takes the same birth data and projects it across the entire globe, showing how those same planetary energies would express if you lived anywhere on Earth. It adds a geographical dimension to traditional natal astrology, functioning as a 'birth chart for every place on Earth.'

Who invented astrocartography?

Astrocartography was developed and popularized by American astrologer Jim Lewis in the 1970s. He coined the term 'Astro*Carto*Graphy' and created the foundational system for mapping planetary lines onto the world.

What is the best astrocartography line to live on?

There is no single universally 'best' line — the ideal line depends on your current life goals. Jupiter lines (especially Jupiter MC) are widely recommended as the most broadly positive for abundance and opportunity. Venus DSC or Moon IC lines suit those prioritizing love and emotional security at home. Sun MC lines benefit those seeking career recognition and public visibility. Even challenging lines like Saturn or Pluto can be powerful for intentional growth.
