Kotisso is a free expense sharing app that helps groups track and split shared costs. Users record who paid what, and Kotisso calculates everyone's balance using one of four splitting methods: equal shares, by shares (weighted), by percentage, or exact amounts. The app works in web browsers and as a mobile app on iOS and Android, with no installation required.

The service handles currency conversion, suggests the shortest repayment plan to settle balances, and ensures no rounding errors occur. Kotisso never handles actual money or accesses bank accounts. All expenses remain private to group members, with no tracking, ads, or data sales.

A free account allows 2 active groups with 12 months of history. Premium subscription (€2.99/month or €24.99/year) offers 10 groups, full expense history, group statistics, and profile photos.

Is Kotisso really free?

Yes. Recording expenses, splitting them four different ways, seeing balances update live, getting the settlement plan and exporting the statement as CSV or PDF all cost nothing, with no ads and no limit on how many people join. The premium subscription only buys comfort: ten active groups instead of two, history beyond twelve months, a group's statistics and a profile photo.

Does everyone need an account?

Yes, one each, and that is what lets everybody watch their own balances update live instead of asking whoever keeps the spreadsheet. You join a group in one click from the invitation link, or with a six-character code. There is nothing to download and no bank details are ever asked for.

Do I have to install an app?

No, Kotisso runs in a browser, on a phone as well as on a computer. It will still install on your home screen if you want it to, in one gesture and without going through an app store, and it then opens without a network to show the last balances it knew.

Does Kotisso handle the money?

Never. Kotisso keeps the count, it carries nothing: no bank account is connected, no transfer leaves from here. You pay each other back however you usually do, then record the repayment in one line, and the balances drop back to zero.

What happens to our expenses?

They stay between the members of the group. Nothing is sold on, nothing is tracked, there are no ads and no advertising trackers. The statement exports to CSV and PDF whenever you like, and an account can be deleted from inside Kotisso, without writing to anyone.
